Over 3,000 academic theses and over 200 monographs have been published, including Studies in Dun Huang TCM, which won a national science and research award and is considered a world-class academic work.
In recent years our college has offered courses for more than ten terms to exchange students from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, various European countries, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, training many of the students in Chinese acupuncture. We have also established a relationship with many academic organizations and research institutions in the United States, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The long history of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with its unique theoretical system, rich clinical experience and influential written documents, is an essential part of the broader study of medicine in the world and is a common source of knowledge for humankind. Gansu province is one of the first areas to develop Traditional Chinese Medicine. Huang Pumi, the founder of Chinese acupuncture, was born in this ancient land of yellow earth where he wrote his compendium Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing (The Fundamental Principles of Acupuncture). Gansu preserves other written documents such as the Dun Huang Yi Shu (Posthumous Writings on Dun Huang), Wu Wei Han Jian (Han Period Bamboo Slips of Wu Wei) and Qi Huang Yi Shi (Qi Huang History of Chinese Medicine). Hidden here is an abundance of medicinal herbs such as Radix Codonopisis Pilosulae, Radix Astragali, Radix Angelica Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae and Radix Glyeyrrhizae. This vast body of knowledge has had a positive effect on the large development of humanity.
In the dawn of the new century, it is the common hope of everyone involved in the study and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the sincere wish of friends of the Chinese people, to allow TCM to serve all the people of the world. We would like to establish more extensive relationship internationally with individual, academic organizations, and research institutions engaged in the fields of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In this way the vibrant and robust profession of TCM will enter into this wonderful new century, realizing the goal set by the World Health Organization “ to ensure that everyone has good health and hygiene in the 21st century.”
